Peach Tea BBQ Sauce

This delicious Southern-inspired peach tea BBQ sauce works beautifully with grilled, baked, or smoked chicken and pork ribs, tenderloin, or chops!

Peach Tea BBQ Sauce

If you love fruit-based barbecue sauce, then this amazing peach tea BBQ sauce is for you. The beauty of this recipe is that it requires few ingredients and can be made in under thirty minutes.

I love slathering this peachy sauce on smoked chicken thighs and BBQ ribs. And this recipe makes roughly 1 3/4-2 cups of peach tea BBQ sauce. So, it’s enough for 2 full-sized racks of spare ribs or 3-4 racks of baby backs. It will be enough for 10-12 medium-sized chicken thighs.

BBQ Sauce Ingredients:

  • 1 cup water
  • 13 bags of peach tea (Bigelow Perfect Peach-found in most supermarkets and online)
  • 1 1/4 cups ketchup (use good quality ketchup for this recipe)
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar, packed
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons Smoked Chicken Rub (or your favorite Kansas City-style rub for pork or chicken)
  • 1 tablespoon butter

How to Make Peach Tea BBQ Sauce:

  • In a small saucepan, bring water to a boil.
  • Remove from heat, and add the 13 peach tea bags.
  • Steep for 10 minutes.
  • Lightly squeeze bags to remove excess moisture before discarding them. Set peach tea concentrate aside.
  • Add ketchup, peach tea concentrate, brown sugar, cider vinegar, and BBQ rub to a separate small saucepan.
  • Simmer over medium heat for 2 minutes, until well combined. Stir often.
  • Reduce heat to medium-low and let the mixture simmer for 5 minutes. Set to low if the sauce is bubbling too much.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in 1 tablespoon of butter until it has completely melted.
  • Cover pot and keep warm before using.
  • If making this peach tea sauce ahead of time, let it cool completely, then transfer it to an airtight container. Store it in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Rewarm before using.
