Pulled Pork Seasoning

A great seasoning blend for pulled pork, filled with sweet and earthy flavors. This recipe makes enough for two large pork roasts.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup paprika
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar, packed
  • 1/3 cup Morton Kosher Salt (stick with this brand as other kosher salts have different salt concentrations)
  • 1/4 cup chili powder
  • 3 tablespoons cumin powder
  • 2 tablespoons medium ground black pepper (or 16-gauge)
  • 2 tablespoons mustard powder
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon granulated onion
  • 2 teaspoons dried savory (sub with dried thyme or marjoram)
  • 2 teaspoons cayenne ( adjust to your liking)

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients in a small bowl and use as needed. Adjust the amount of cayenne to suit your tastes. If making ahead of time, store rub in an airtight container or a lidded jar for up to 6 months after initial preparation.
  • Use 1 tablespoon of rub per pound of meat.
