How to Trim Asparagus:
One of the most asked questions I receive from readers is how to trim asparagus. It's simple, really, and once you get the hang of it, it will go by quickly!
Look for firm asparagus. Anything that feels too soft is nearing its expiration date and should be discarded.
Choose a sturdy, medium-sized stalk and hold it toward the center and the broader end.
Gently bend that area until it snaps and breaks off.
Now lay it down next to the remaining stalks, and cut them all to that size.
If you plan to use smaller pieces for skewers, cut them into thirds or 2" pieces.
