Bill Best, the founder of TEC (aka Thermal Engineering Corporation), pioneered modern infrared technology. From paint-drying equipment to space heaters to infrared gas grills, he has at least a hand in it all. The TEC line of gas grills has an ultra-efficient design that converts 99% of the heat energy of a gas burner into infrared. The TEC Sterling FR is one of the most technologically advanced gas grills on the market.

TEC Sterling FR- Infrared
You might be wondering why you should purchase TEC Sterling FR. Why purchase an infrared grill at all? Well, these are big questions and not simple ones to answer. What sets this grill apart is its ability to reach incredibly high temperatures, up to 900 degrees F, which is searing power that even charcoal grills struggle to achieve. This unit can also maintain temperatures as low as 200 degrees F, providing a 700-degree variation in cooking temperatures. In terms of raw power, this gas grill is hard to beat.
On the other hand, the TEC Sterling FR has nearly 600 square inches of primary grilling space and only two burners. There is no rotisserie system and little else in the way of features. As a steak grilling machine, you couldn’t ask for anything better. As a general gas grill, well, that is up for debate. It’s a good unit, but there are other grills that offer more. Considering the price tag is around $7,000, this grill is a serious investment.
The Bottom Line
Don’t get me wrong—the TEC Sterling FR is a great grill—one of the best on the market. However, it isn’t like other grills. If you are ready to mount the learning curve and engage in some serious grilling, then this is the unit for you. It’s fun to cook on, and if you are looking for power, then look no further. This model is also available in the TEC Sterling Stainless Steel Island.
